— About Xiangyang —

Xiangyang, known as the "Iron-Clad City," is celebrated for its resilient spirit and picturesque Han River scenery. Nestled in northwestern Hubei Province along the middle reaches of the Han River, this nationally renowned historical and cultural city boasts the titles of "Foremost Fortress under Heaven" and "Land-and-Water Hub Connecting Seven Provinces," where Chu culture, Han River culture, and Three Kingdoms culture converge.

The Han River flows through the city as its timeless natural lifeline, painting a magnificent scene of "rivers stretching beyond heaven and earth, mountains fading into mist and green." A climb up the ancient city wall of Xiangyang, facing the river and overlooking the distant towers, lets you touch the profound legacy of history while sensing the enduring pulse of this living city.

With a history of over 2,800 years, Xiangyang is the place where Zhuge Liang, the "Master of Wisdom," once farmed in seclusion. Thirty-two chapters of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms are set here, and it is also the homeland of renowned cultural figures such as Meng Haoran and Mi Fu. The Xiangyang Museum houses over 70,000 cultural relics — from the "people-oriented" inscription on the Western Zhou bronze "Zeng Boqi Yue" axe to the majestic "Grand Marshal" tiger-crouching bronze tripod — each bearing witness to the profound and diverse cultural heritage of this land.

Xiangyang's vibrant street life is equally captivating. A bowl of fiery beef noodle soup is the city's morning ritual — rich with beef tallow, hearty in texture, best enjoyed with a cup of sweet yellow wine for a truly satisfying start. Along Beijie (North Street), the crisp and sweet brown sugar pancakes and an array of intangible-heritage delicacies tell stories of the ancient city's warm and colorful daily life.
